In order to secure the job of your dreams, you have to convince the prospective employer that you are really someone worth having on board. This can be quite easy if only the employer would sit down and talk to you anytime you are in need of a job. Unfortunately, that is not the case. Before any employer would sit down and talk to you they first need to see your resume.
Your resume is your key to getting the work you have always dreamed of. It is your only way to promote yourself and let the prospective employer know what sets you apart from the rest even without the employer talking to you face-to-face. This is the reason why you should pay particular attention on how you would craft it. Fortunately, you just have to keep a few things in mind when making that killer resume.
First and foremost, do not forget to indicate your job objective. By doing so, you are letting the prospective employer see you as someone who has everything planned. This also shows that you have good foresight and that you are an organized type of person. Be sure to keep it to 5 to 6 sentences only, however, as anything more than that would sound like a desperate attempt to get the employer’s attention.
Before you
email your resume to the employer, make sure that you have highlighted your strengths. Do not just go on and on about what your job responsibilities are. Indicate what types of projects you have handled, what accomplishments you have had and, if you were part of a team, what your contributions were. Keep yourself from using "my responsibilities" include. Instead, focus on exactly what you have done. This would give the employer an idea of what skills you have and how you can be of help to them.
It is also a good idea to keep your work history in a chronological order. People who do not know the difference between a chronological resume and a functional resume usually
email resumes to prospective employers without hope of getting any reply. Chronological resumes are fit for people who are not changing career tracks while the functional resume is best suited for those who would like to highlight more their other skills since they are seeking a job different from what they use to hold.
Lastly, before you
email your resume, check the grammar and the spelling. Resumes that have a number of grammatical errors and poor sentence construction is indicative of someone who is not meticulous, organized, and would probably have problems communicating with people around him or her.
